Juneteenth is the day that African American people celebrate their true freedom. July 4th - not everyone was truly free in America. On June 19, 1865, some still enslaved African Americans were informed of their freedom, at last.

Both the Jeffersonville and Clarksville locations of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 and remain closed through Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
