Event Details

Jeffersonville Township Public Library presents Dr. Rachel Wheeler, historian, author, and chair of religious studies at Indiana University Indianapolis. Wheeler’s program will focus on William Conner, an early Indiana Indian agent and his first wife, Mekinges, a Lenape (Delaware) woman. When the United States federal government removed the Lenape from Indiana, Mekinges left with her people, taking the couple’s children. William Conner remained in Indiana and soon married again. To learn more about Wheeler’s work to illuminate the lives of the Conner family members, join us in the Program rooms A and B in the Clarksville Library.  This presentation is recommended for teens and adults.
