Program Description

Event Details

Juneteenth is the day that African American people celebrate their true freedom. July 4th - not everyone was truly free in America. On June 19, 1865, some still enslaved African Americans were informed of their freedom, at last. This day has been celebrated since then as "Emancipation Day" in honor of the enslaved African American people of the past and to celebrate the freedom that was gained.

Please come to the library to celebrate with our staff and learn more about this day!

This will be a terrace event. It may be hot. So if the weather becomes too extreme we will have to relocate some of the activities inside. Additionally, there may be foods that cause allergies.
