Program Description

Event Details

Join us on this date when Retired Chef David Barnes will regale us with stories of his years as a working chef while preparing a number of scrumptious appetizers for our culinary enjoyment!

Born in Louisville, KY, David began his career in the restaurant business by washing dishes at Big Springs Country Club. On his way to earning the white chef's coat, he then worked at The Hungry Pelican, Victoria Station, Cafe Metro, and the Uptown Cafe.

David graduated from Sullivan College in 1992 with an Associate's Degree in the Culinary Arts and subsequently began working at Jack Fry's and Shariat's.

Deciding to go in a different direction, David then started working at KFC in Research and Development and nine years later he became the Corporate Chef for KFC. During those years, he earned his Certified Executive Chef status from the American Culinary Federation.

David then went back to Sullivan College where he began taking night classes and ultimately earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. David also had the distinction of graduating Summa Cum Laude (with highest honor)!

After a company downsizing situation at KFC, David then began working for Manitowoc Food Service. After many years of travel with the company, he finally made the decision to retire.

David is happily married to Sandy Barnes and he has two bonus daughters - Hannah and Emma - and five Amazing grandchildren. David also takes care of a feral cat by the name of Millie.

Pre-registration will be limited to 15 maximum, per David's request.
